Crockpots??

So I think I want a crockpot... BUT... I have no clue as to where to begin in choosing one...help please Chat Icon ETA: what types of things do you make?? Just soups and stews?

I make chicken stew, squash soup, beef stew,..can't think of anything else offhand.

I got mine at BBB- at least I registered for it there and a friend bought it for me. And yes, you can leave it on all day while you were at work.

Yup. Throw everything in & leave it on for 10 hours - it's done by the time I get home 11.5 hours later. THat's why you need the Rival which will switch to warm when it's done.

Alot of places carry crockpots.

BBB, Target, Im sure Linens and Things, even Ace Hardware has them.

Im sure you can get one online also.

love mine! I don't use it as much this time of year, but I am going to make more of an effort.

make sure you get one where the inside part comes out so you can toss it in the dishwasher!! my mother's is all one piece and it is a PITA to clean!

Sorry to hijack, but I've wanted to get one too....I guess they aren't a firehazard? My DH is afraid to leave something on while we are both not home during the day.

I'm a worry wort about things like that. I unplug just about everything before I leave the house.

I don't think they are.
If I'm not going to be home, I usually put something of glass on the bottom (just in case) if I just don't want to leave it on the counter. I actually have never heard of anyone experience of any problems like this.
