crock pot experiments?
have you ever just tried a bunch of combinations of things in the crock pot and hoped for the best? can you really make a mistake? i would hate to experiment with different recipes and find out 8 hours later that it sucks

Re: crock pot experiments?
Yes-twice!
Once I made a mexican chicken type thing but I added wild rice that just never totally cooked.
The second time was not my fault! I bought a william sonoma crock pot sauce and put it in with a pork shoulder. After it had cooked forever I realized it really had no flavor. I tried adding everything I could think of but nothing seemed to help. I finally threw in a whole bottle of bbq sauce and it was ok. I still have some in my freezer but I get when I think about how many random things are in there!
Overall, I think they're pretty fool proof!

Re: crock pot experiments?
One time I threw some Italian bread crumbs into a batch of Jack Daniels ribs, and they came out with this amazing coating on them. I wrote a column about it for a local online newspaper and got on a new local Internet cooking show, so you never know what can happen when you get creative with the crock pot!
