Re: creative halloween costume help

Last year I went as Miss Universe. I wore all balck, bought a tiara and wore a sash and pinned pictures of the planets on me.

My Dh went as a "Lame Excuse". He wrapped up his leg and walked with a crutch and on a white T-shirt wrote excuses like "The dog ate my homework", 'The check is in the mail" etc...

One year I cut the bottom out of those plastic laundry baskets. Put it on with suspenders. attached some old clothe on me and out of the basket , stick an empty thing of laundry detergrent in and clothespins all over me. I actually won a prize for it.

DH and I thought of going as a sanitation worker and a bag of garbage. He would wear coveralls and I would cut arm & leg holes, step into the bag and pull it over my body so my head was coming out of the top of the bag and have it loosely tied around my neck with some 'trash' sticking out and glue some trash to the rest of me…. But we’re going as Steve Zissou and the auditor instead. Much love to anyone who knows who that is… Chat Icon

Re: creative halloween costume help

one of my colleagues is trying to get her roomies to go with her as underage chinese gymnasts. her idea was to put hair back with a zillion of those little barettes, esp ones with glitter, wear a red leotard with red warm up pants (put gold stars on them), and to make gold medals to hang around their necks.

i think its pretty clever and would def be a conversation piece

When I was in college, a group of guy friends of mine went as the "fallopian swim team".

They dressed all in white and put a latex looking cap on their heads. They even gave each other names "Future president" "Most likely to succeed". It was hilarious!!!

Re: creative halloween costume help

Last year I was "the devil wears prada" and bought red tights from target, a kiddie devil costume from walmart (sparkly devil horns and a tail and a bow) and bright red lipstick.

i borrowed a red, black and white geometric patterned dress from a friend (kohls, not prada, but looked kind of designery) and taped a "PRADA" sign to my chest. I also borrowed a prada bag from a friend. I wore red balmoral pumps I already owned.

fun and cheap! the whole thing cost me under $15 (i think the tights were $5.99, the devil costume was $3.98 and the lipstick was $5?)

DH was Dr. House last year --- jeans, blue button down, blazer, stubble, my grandpa gave us an old cane which we painted flames on and he walked with a limp.

This year I'm going to be America's favorite hockey mom. My BIL lent me a hockey jersey, I have glasses, red lipstick, will throw my hair up in a bun and carry a stuffed animal dog and my brother's play rifle from when we were kids. And I'll wink at people a lot.

Re: creative halloween costume help

I was a shooting star once. I cut out a star from oaktag and tied it around my neck with a string and then had a fake gun and would shoot people - hence shooting star. I was a poor college student at the time!

my sil last year had a halloween party and there were a few creative ones.

she dressed in all black and went as a hostess (since she was the hostess of the partyChat Icon ) and had pined on her shirt the white curly looking thing. it was cute. I don't remember what she used though.

A couple came as brad and angelina. the girl dressed like ang and had a baby doll pinned to the back of her shoulder and pushed around a stroller with a bunch of babies in it. and the guy dressed like brad and wore the same sunglasses he's always seen in, I thought that was pretty funny

Re: creative halloween costume help

Years ago, a guy at a party I went to wore a posterboard that was a top ten list(like from Letterman) of why he wasn't wearing a costume. It was pretty funny.
