CPA question, tax time
In the past, at times, I did my own taxes and sometimes I paid someone like last year.
I want to change, my current guy is an ass.
I started looking around, one place call, asked for me to send or bring in a copy of my past returns, so they can give me the "correct" price.
I feel odd about this, perhaps it's the norm. My returns are basic, w-2 maybe a 1099. easy to complete, takes them 15-20 min.
second place told me $275, they didn't ask what type of return, it's a set price...
Thoughts about what I was asked to provide before getting a price?

Re: CPA question, tax time
I think they want to know how much time it will involve them so to charge accordingly. We have used the same person for many years and everything is already in his system so for the most part it doesn’t take long, it is the chatting about sports that keeps us lol. He also has his prices posted on his desk and we get a discount at $350. He did 3 of us last year so your price seems right.

CPA question, tax time
With just a W2 and a 1099 - could you look into getting Turbo Tax and doing it yourself?
I used to do my own taxes prior to marrying DH - they were pretty straight forward as well.
