Cousin's wedding gift?

I've been to friend's wedding and I usually give between 300-350 for me and guest. My cousin's wedding next month is my first family wedding as an "adult". Other cousins were married when I was much younger so I've never given a money gift.

What's the average NY/Long Island price to give a cousin on his wedding day. I was figuring 400-450 but wasn't sure. Is it too little? Are they expecting more?Ive got no idea.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Cousin's wedding gift?

My cousins get $400.
I was maid of honor for one cousin and she got $500.

It was all reciprocated when I got married.

Re: Cousin's wedding gift?

When we got married, my cousin & his fiance gave us $500 and when they get married next month, we are giving them the same thing.

All of my cousins who came as couples gave us between $350-$500 depending on how close we are to them.

Wow- people are generous! I would say we got around the same from our cousins as we did from close friends. In our case, it was about $250-300 per couple.

Well, I am in a different boat. I am not close with any of my cousins at all. We were lucky to even get any type of gifts from them for our wedding in 2004. If any of my cousins ever got married, I'd probably only give them @ $200-$250.

ditto!
With only one exception perhaps (a cousin I am extremely close to) none of our cousins on either side went above and beyond the 'normal' gift we got from friends.. and I have done the same in reverse.

But yet I do believe it depends on the closeness factor. I feel closer to some friends than I do my own family Chat Icon so that distinguishes my opinion from others that might be extremely close to their cousins'
