Could the urge to pee be waking up my toddler?

DS is 2 1/2 and has been waking up in the middle of the night a few times per week. When he wakes up he immediately comes into our room and asks for a diaper change. We will go to change him and he is typically dry. Within 10 minutes he is sound asleep again.

If he sleeps through the night, he wakes up dry. We put him on the potty, but he won't go. Within 10 minutes his diaper is BUSTING at the seams. Now I'm wondering if it could be the urge to pee that is waking him. Does this sound familiar?

(BTW: He averages 1-2 pee pees on the potty per day. He isn't close to being potty trained. I figured I'd really hit it in the summer.)

TIA for any advice!

Absolutely could be...dry diapers are a sign of them being ready to potty train...have you thought about having him wear underwear to bed?? We went cold turkey and it was the best decision.

I would also limit his drinks before bed, and hopefully he won't have to wake upChat Icon

I tried the underwear during the day thing and he was constantly peeing all voer the floor and carpet. I figured I'd give it a try again in the summer. He will be closer to 3 then.
