Although I technicllay haven't used it yet, the stroller/travel system I got is great. A few girls here have it and I saw it in a magazine with a high rating. It's the Cortina Travel System-Sahara and made by Chicco:

I researched everything using the Baby Bargains book, consumer reports and the reviews on Amazon/BRU. Here's what I registered for (obviously haven't used them yet):
Fisher Price Aquarium Healthy Care High Chair
Cortina Travel System - Sahara (Chicco)
Police officer raved about the infant seat when he installed it
Britax Marathon and Boulevard
Summer Infant Products Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor (for the crib)
Sony Baby Call Nursery Monitor - 27 channel (to move around the house - pack and play, swing, etc)

I think all the moms on Parenting agree that Summer Video Monitor is by far the best. I think the Baby Bargains book is a wonderful reference. I have a Peg Perego Primma Pappa highchair that is great, PP Pliko Lite stroller also great and a Britax Boulevard carseat.

Definitely pick up the latest edition of Baby Bargains. It helps a lot.
I really can't make too many recommendations. First, they aren't here and second, with twins, I have a limited choice as to strollers and some other items.
Keep in mind, new models of strollers come out in January (kinda like cars ) and you can get last years models, new still in box, for much cheaper on-line (e-bay) or discounted from some stores. That's how most of my friends bought their strollers and they saved a lot.
