cost of re-sizing a ring bigger?
just wanted to see if anyone knew a ballpark price for this.. i wanted to re-size my engagement/wedding ring (currently 2 white gold bands soldered together) up a size and a half... TIA!

Usually if you go to where it was purchased they either won't charge, or they will only charge a small amount.

i dont remember maybe $50 for two rings- kristen jeweler in bay shore mall. i got a price at diamond jewelers and it was over a 100.....so definately shop around first.

wow good to know! i went to a place yesterday and they wanted $185!! I thought it sounded a little high so I just wanted to check. Thanks!
ETA unfortunately i can't go to who I originally purchased it from, it was originally purchased through a family friend who used to work in the diamond district but no longer does.

i had to have my engagement ring sized bigger. we took it the to store it wad purchased at and they sized it for free (and that day too)

Most won't charge more than $30.
It's too bad you can't go to who sold it to you - generally they'd do it for free.

I went back to the place where i bought my ring and they wanted to charge me an obscene amount - so I haven't done it yet!
Let me know if you find some place good!!! I've wanted to do it for awhile now.

Up a size and half means the rings have to have gold added. They can't be stretched.
All depends upon how much gold is used and what the current price is.

Try Good Old Gold in Massapequa...they don't let the diamond leave your site.

I never leave my rings.
you should be able to find a place that will let you wait while they do it.
I've had to make my rings smaller and larger before and I was able to wait for both, it took about 10 minutes.
I go to behr jewelers at the commack jewelery exchange.

My DH had his resized smaller and I think it was under $100...we go to Nuha in Tri-County. They are great there.

I've gone to Tri-County. There is a booth there that does it for about $20, I don't remember the name, but I'm sure they are all mostly about the same.

It really all depends on how many sizes up you are going. At my store we charge $55 for the first size and $10 for every additional size. Also since they are soldered together they have to be Un-soldered and then soldered together again.

Does anyone know if they have to resize if they also need to reset your diamonds?
