Cord blood... something you don't hear...

so the major argument against cord blood collection is that there's a limited # of diseases it can currently treat, and there aren't enough cells to treat a full-grown adult...

well, after we went through the collection, I got the stats from CBR about our sample.

our Dr managed to get an extra 50% of blood and did a really good draw. Little Loaf has FOUR TIMES the # of stem cells as an average sample...

so, obviously, we lucked out big time and his sample likely could be used in adulthood since there is such a vast excess of cells, and new data show that samples last much longer than originally expected...

just wanted to give everyone debating whether or not to do it this FYI... and share our pleasant surprise! So, apparently the collection process could greatly affect your sample, and if your Dr. is skilled, you could get a larger sample than usual......

That's great news!! Another point is that there is a chance that they will be able to duplicate the stem cells to make artificial cells to match them. So, the quantity issue may be moot by the time we need the stem cells. I have followed articles specifically involving use of stem cells as a treatment or cure for diabetes and they are making advances in that direction.

yes, my Dr. did the same for my DD so I am hoping he does it again this time around too.
