Cord Blood Banking
Who's doing it, how much does it cost (if you don't mind me asking) and what company did you go with?

We are interested in doing this, but I haven't researched anything yet. I would love some info too!

Re: Cord Blood Banking
We're doing it. We decided to go with Viacord. You can find discounts all around. I don't remember the exact price, but we're doing the payment plan.
ETA: we feel it's worth it for us b/c unfortunately we have leukemia that runs in our family.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
We researched this and decided to go with CBR. They have been doing it the longest. Cost is around $2000.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
I did it for both of my kids. I used Viacord. I can find out how much I paid but it was a while ago and I know their prices have changed.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
We're still deciding. We definitely want to, and I feel like we'd regret if we didn't do it but we're trying to figure out if we'll have the money. If we do it I think we'll go with Viacord.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
We are pretty sure we are going with Viacord. It's $2000 up front and then $125/year. Our dr told us to mention that we are her patient and we should be able to get a small discount.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
$2000 is a lot up front and then to pay a yearly feel. Possibly a little too steep for us.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
I would do your own research and make sure when you do, that the sites are unbiased. And their sponsors are not Viacord etc. After doing my own research and DH did also, we decided against it.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
We actually did this. I did a lot of research and was most comfortable with CBR they are in business the longest. It is costly though. My husband makes the payments but if I remember correctly I think it is about $2000. We did it back in '06 with DS. Look around though because CBR is always putting out coupons for things like $100 off.....

Re: Cord Blood Banking
I wanted to add to my previous post. I signed up last night with CBR. The cost was around $2100 but we had a friend that gave us a gift card for $150 and then they gave us another $100 off for just giving them a name of someone who may be interested.
They also offered a payment plan for the big payment - 6 mths interest free on you credit card. We went with taht. It was easier on the credit card pmts!
Finally, if I give them names of anyone interested and they sign up, I get a free year (worth $125) for each person. All they do is call you and send you info.
Heck - if anyone is interested FM me - I will give them your name!

We banked via Viacord and did it based on the recommendation of my MD and family in the medical field.

Re: Cord Blood Banking
We used CBR because I felt the most comfortable with them. It is $125 a year and almost $2000 up front. We also had a coupon because someone we knew used them.
