I let my kids pick a few from what we bake...they usually go for gingerbread and the most gaudy decorated sugar cookies!

We make simple yet delicious cut out sugar cookies for Santa. We use this recipe
We all decorate them as a family for Santa. We've been doing this since DS was 2. (he's now 5) and he loves it! I've got to admit, it's one of my favorite traditions at Christmas with him.

Hes adorable!
This is my first year doing it with my daughter shes 2.5, I was planning choc chip cookies BUT seeing how adorable that lil boy looks decorating the sugar cookies Im thinking of a change of plans. My dd would LOVEEEEEEEEE that!

I am going to make sugar cookies with DD and put the red and green M&Ms in them.
ETA- I do the break and bake and just pop the M&M's in before baking.

Cookies for Santa
I made a ton of cookies for our cookie exchange at work and have batches in the freezer. This is our first year leaving out cookies and they will be peanut butter chocolate chip.

We are boring, we only do peanut butter, chocolate chip or sugar. I wish I could bake beautiful Christmas cookies. Maybe I'll give it a try next year.
