Convertible Car Seat & Stroller

DH is a big guy and loves our Chico Travel System. He uses it the most since tiny tots daycare is at his office. I love the snap and go which he hates with a passion.

I'm not sure how much longer tiny tot will be able to fit in the infant carrier so I want to be prepared.

I know we put the Britax Convertible Boulevard 70 on our registry. Anyone have this? I'm open to others.

Now for the stroller. I'm wanting something similar to the snap and go. big basket. cup holder and light. Does that even exist?

Check out car-seat.org. They can give you recommendations based on your DS's height/weight stats, your car and other requirements. I know that Britax Blvd is considered to be a nice seat for average sized infants to be kept rear facing for long time. But if you have a bigger infant it might not last that long rearfacing.

I have the Peg Perego Vela stroller & i love it. Very lightweight & the basket is huge.

I have an evenflo symphony 65 for DS and love it. It can remain RF to 40 pounds, FF with harness to 65 pounds, then can be used as a high back belt positioning booster to 100 pounds. The head rest is adjustable so there is little to no worry about growing out of it height wise. The seat also doesn't expire for 8 years so it is the only seat you will need. It is extremely easy to install and super easy to adjust the straps since it is a threadless system.

I will be getting another one once DD#2 is ready to come out of her infant carrier.

I would go look at the convertible seats and try soem out in your
car(s). The Britax tend to be HUGE and do nto fit it many cars without the front seats being always in a certain postition.

Oce you find a few that fit I would then research their ratings.

I have 3 Evenflos and LOVE them. They were only 149.00 and fit in our midsize sedan with out any issue and DS has plenty of room. As for how long they are going to be rear facing and those requirements. There are suggestions (2 years for rear facing etc.) You have to see what works for YOU and Your family. they are guidelines and you will get the carseat people saying it is gospel.

For strollers I would look at soem of the Umbrella ones. I don;t think any have the basket of the snap and go.

I have a city mini and a Graco umbrella. I use the city mini for times DS will be int he stroller longer and the umbrella when I am lugging him around the CIty.

I agree with PP, britax is huge... DH can never ride shotgun in my car bc he's over 6 feet tall and the chair blocks him from putting his seat back.
Wish I knew this before bc I would have gotten a smaller seat!

Not sure what your price limit is but I have an Uppa Baby, the Cruz is friggin awesome but sort of $$$.
I almost shed a tear when it was time to retire my Snap N Go. I adored that thing!!

Edit to say I just read what u want in a stroller. Maybe the City Mini will work for u, although I heard the basket is small.

Combi Cosmo...decent basket, super light, easy to fold.

We will need one for each car. We both have a Lexus 4 door sedan. Fatthead is 6'3 and always does the driving when we're together. I'm 5'0. I'm guessing it won't be a problem for me.lol

I have the Britax Boulevard 70cs and LOVE it.
It's very easy to use and adjust the straps.
Great seat!
We have it in the middle- so I can still put both front seats back as much as I need to..and my car isn't very big

Depending on the car (as I'm sure you already know) the safest placement is either center, or behind passenger - so if he always drives when together it shouldn't be a concern. But you might want to factor in if/when you have another child and you have 2 carseats and will you have the same cars, etc.

The things to ponder are ENDLESS

I have the Britax Marathon 70g3 and like it. It fits (RF obviously) on the passenger side of my Altima and the passenger seat does not have to be pushed up at all. it's pretty comfortable for everyone.

It's not a cheap seat though but worth it.


For strollers, if you want something light, you should probably get an umbrella stroller.

If you want something more functional with a basket & cup holder, i have the Graco Urbanlite (i have the travel system but i know they sell the strollers without the carriers too). It's fairly light weight (considering it's a full size stroller) and easily maneuverable and has two cup holders and a fairly large basket underneath. No light though - i didn't even know that was an option
