constipated
I know, I know that this is a sore subject for some, but I'm 9 months preggo and just want to GO already! I've tried fiber and it's done NOTHING. I'm drinking a ton of water...any other suggestions?
Or anyone else wanna commiserate so I don't feel gross and alone

I thought that was like stool softener and I thought I read somewhere we couldn't take that?

Re: constipated
I am just crashing because I thought that you couldnt eat flaxseed while pregnant?
"Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Taking flaxseed by mouth during pregnancy is POSSIBLY UNSAFE. Flaxseed can act like the hormone estrogen. Some healthcare providers worry that this might harm the pregnancy, although to date there is no reliable clinical evidence about the effects of flaxseed on pregnancy outcomes. The effect of flaxseed on breast-fed infants is unknown at this time. Stay on the safe side, and don’t use flaxseed if you are pregnant or breast-feeding."

Definitely try Colace - that is what they will give you in the hospital after delivery.

You can't take a laxative as they cause preterm labor but I think a stool softener is safe. If you aren't sure, just call your doctor and ask.
In my first trimester I was so backed up it was making me REALLY sick. I tried colase, prunes, coffee, milk (I'm lactose intolerant), apple juice, everything under the sun besides an enema. I even took a laxative (apparently since I was 6 weeks it was safe to take...it's later in the pregnancy you can't take them) and thought I was going to die. The thing that finally worked was Miralax!!! It was AMAZING and have been keeping it in the house every since. Since then I've been pretty regular and taking fiber pills every day to keep it that way.
I hope you get some relief soon. Like I said, I would all the doctor before taking colase though. The hospital might give it to you after birth but that doesn't mean it's ok before birth (not sure if stool softeners have the same reaction to pregnancy as laxatives).

I feel your pain... I am 38w 2 days, have IBS normally and pregnancy has not been nice to my bowels.
When is your due date? I bet you could take miralax at this point.... you said you were 9 months... are you the the safe zone yet? That way if it brought on contractions it would not really matter? I think some doctors actually allow miralax when pregnant anyway.
I'm sorry.... pooping suck.... I wish send you you lots of poopy dust !

I have a fiber laxative thing I got at CVS that I was taking with water (you mix it with water kind of like a flavor thingie) and that WAS working...just not this week

Re: constipated
Metamucil saved my life in my first pregnancy. I'm not kidding. I probably would have imploded otherwise. I had the wafers, they weren't bad.
