Concerned about results-UPDATE 2/4/08
Well I just came back from the 16 week appointment and my doctor said that the Ultrascreen showed a 1 in 740 chance of something being wrong. She said that the number did not change much after the test was done ( so basically my chances when they calculated my age-28, where same as the results AFTER they had the blood and Ultrasound results). She told me to get an Ultrascreen 2 - Modified Sequential Screening, which I did and they said results would take about a week. If the results come back at least 1 in 1000, then she will be fine but anything lower than a 1000 she is recommending an amnio.
I am soo worried that when she let me listen to the baby's heartbeat I could barely muster a smile. I am also mad because when I called for my Ultrascreen results almost 4 weeks ago, they said everything was fine....
I am so concerned now and waiting is going to feel like forever.
Just had to vent.
UPDATE: After tears and fears...all is well ! Just got a call from the nurse and everything looked really good! Once they incorporated the Ultrascreen 2 results into the Ultrascreen 1 results my risk went from 1:745 to 1:1275, which is great! The other probabilities were even better (I coulnd't jot them down in time). I asked the nurse to have the doctor please review these results and call me, because I want to make sure everything is indeed OK (especially after what happened the first time), but I wanted to share with you ladies. Thank you for all your kind words.

ETA: I know a lot of girls on the boards have had things pop up at the Ultrascreen that they became concerned about but everything turned out fine in the end.

Re: Concerned about results
I know it's easier said than done, but try to not to stress about it until you get the results back. Stress isn't good for you or the baby. Good luck!

Re: Concerned about results
That is definitely not right they told you everything was fine when you called. Unfortunately, with all of the patient confidentiality now its hard to get truthful answers over the phone.
Hang in there, remember those numbers are just based off ratios and are a probability, not a definitive answer.

Re: Concerned about results
I had a similar experience at the ultrascreen, but worse numbers. First, the ultrascreen could not be completed because the baby measured over 14 weeks - so no nuchal fold test.
I was only able to get blood results. Those results were 1 in 190. Even lower than what they should have been for my age (36). I was in the high risk category.
During week 15 I went for the quad screen and got great numbers. Then at the 20 week anatomy scan everything looked great.
Hope this makes you feel better.

Thank you Betty. I am suppose to get my quad number either Friday or Monday. I can't help but feel so worried, though. I wasn't even able to sleep because I kept feeling waves of anxiety and worrying about the baby.
Thanks guys to all of you for your kind words.

Re: Concerned about results
Make sure you go for another ultrascreen, you want to make sure that everything is ok. Take every test they will give you to make sure.

Re: Concerned about results
My odds are 1 in 417 and we decided against an amnio.

We looked at it this way - this baby is a gift and if it was not perfectly healthy we'd love and deal with it. It is our child no matter what.
We had our comprehensive ultrasound two weeks ago and everything looked great.
Hang in there and try not to worry.

I am assuming she meant Down's but she wasn't explicit. I was so shellshocked that I couldn't even ask any questions, because when I called 4 weeks ago the nurse said everything was normal.
