Coming home outfit spinoff question...
I know that everyone talks about this outfit, etc....
but isn't it just a simple comfy outfit the baby wears in the car?...
I also went looking last night thinking I had to go and buy something special....but I realize I have SO much stuff that would probably be fine...
is there a special tradition or something that I am missing?

I think it's just because really- it's the first outfit that the baby will ever wear. So people want it to be special. I don't think it needs to be something crazy, just something cute and comfy for baby.

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
I hear ya - I feel like I'm putting pressure to find a cute outfit, but its just for them to travel home in and take pictures. I'm just getting a simple easy to put on, warm outfit.

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
For me, my concern is that it is warm above anything else. Which is my issue!

I was looking for the same thing, but then I thought, should it be more special that a BabyGap shirt that says "Santa is my HomeBoy"? LOL...I am due around x-mas...

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
I was stressing about this as well and decided just on a little duck one piece fleecy outfit I have from Carters. It's NB so who knows how long it will fit for!
I do have a Christmas outfit as well if comes a little late, just in case.
I need to go out this weekend though and find a warm hat to get it washed and ready.

DS had this shirt and wore it on x-mas eve last year. Everyone got a kick out of it!

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
it's the first time the baby puts on clothes. the baby will look adorable in anything. i'd find something cute that buttons/snaps up the front.

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
I spent so much time finding the perfect outfit, which bought in a 0-3 size and it was GIGANTIC. She was swimming in it- and I had a 8lb 1oz baby. But she still looked adorable!

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
For DS, I picked an outfit out of the outfits that people bought me. Then MIL bought an outfit while I was in the hospital. Both were way too big. I was so glad that I didn't go crazy looking for something really special. I guess it's important to get a picture while the baby is in the outfit.
With this baby, I'll probably see what people buy again or see if I come across something comfy. He'll probably be wearing a fleecie over it anyway.

Re: Coming home outfit spinoff question...
I used a Gap sleeper and matching hat that I got as a gift to bring my firstborn home in.
I don't get the whole outfit thing either. I think we changed DC's outfit twice after we got home anyway because of those lovely first poops.
