Comfort nursing

Ds is only 3 weeks so I know this isn't an issue yet but I was kind of curious.

Right now we feed in demand. Sometimes he will eat every 2 to 3 hours sometimes he will want to eat what feels like constantly. Sometime he will just want a snack just to fall asleep.

My question is when typically does the on demand go to more of a consistent time interval? I am a planner and have a hard time just winging it! Haha And when do I have to worry about comfort nursing and using me as a pacifier? I know not yet but I don't want to create a bad habit.
Thanks!

I think DD was 6 or 7 weeks when I started doing eat, play, sleep with her. There was no time schedule but it at least made things more predictable and cut out her nursing to sleep. Depending on when she woke for the day and how long she napped, she usually was up for two hours between each nap. The evenings were still a little tricky for a while since she would cluster feed before bed. I can't remember how long that lasted though.

Re: Comfort nursing

DS 3 does the same thing and he is 8 weeks old. By 3 months is when I "think" my others got on a schedule and I would say mostly because they become more efficient so they don't have to nurse as long and they don't need to eat as often.
I just keep reminding myself its not forever
Hang in there!
