Colposcopy and TTC
Has anyone had a colposcopy and then conceived right after? I'm going in for it next week and i'm just wondering if next month will be a loss...

I have had several (lucky me) colonoscopies... and I don't see how it would affect your ability to conceive.
I can't specifically answer your question-- but, I don't see why you would miss out on this month.

I've had about 5. I was good for 5 years and now I had an abnormal pap. Do you remember how long they told you not to BD?

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
I had one about 4 years ago and from what I understand it should not effect TTC although at the time I was not trying so I really didn't look that far into it.
You may want to address any questions or concerns you have to your physician.
Good Luck!

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
I had one years ago and I remember the doctor stressing for me to be extremely careful and not get pregnant that cycle...he advised to me wait until the next cycle...(I was about 19 so that really wasn't on my mind anyway).

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
My best friend had one done and then got pregnant (unexpectedly) and she was on high-risk the entire pregnancy...even on bed-rest. Her cervix never fully healed after the procedure and there was a bit of a concern over it shrinking (if I'm remembering correctly).
I would wait the cycle out - wait until you heal.

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
I had a coloposcopy years ago and I would wait to TTC. You want to give your body enough time to heal. There is less of a risk of infection and I would imagine (though this is just a guess) that there would be less of a risk of miscarriage when your body is healed from ANY GYN procedure. I know it stinks to have to wait, (I have been there) but its probably a good thing to do. Good luck!

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
you should definately wait until after the colposcopy, bc if they do a biopsy, it will be better for you to find out if there is anything more severe going on. I know you are eager to start TTC, but you want your body to be healthy when you conceive. A month or even a few months, isn't really going to make much of a difference in the grande scheme of things! Good luck!

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
I am having one next week as well and when I made the appt. I knew I would be in the 2ww so I asked if it would be a problem that we were TTC. They said absolutely not, it is fine. Now this will be my second and all it really is is a pap where they biopsy the cervix. I'll definately ask before the procedure, but they already told me it was ok. HTH.

Re: Colposcopy and TTC
i have read they are safe to do while preg. everybody is different i would ask your doc.
those with high risk may have had other cervical problems to begin with leading to removal of some of the cervical surface so it is thin to begin with. Colposcopy only pinches off small pieces of tissue to biopsy.
But i would agree with a previous poster, your not preg now so i would wait for your results incase anytihng further is needed.
i had a slightly abnormal pap a few months ago (Dh and i were celebrating my bday - oops!) I waited for my follow up pap results before trying! better safe than sorry!
