Cold cuts
Who eats them? Work just bought us heros for lunch to celebrate something. To eat or not to eat that is the question

Re: Cold cuts
Everyone will give you a different answer. My OB recommends not eating them so with my first I didn't. However, this pregnancy I've been having sandwiches. Truthfully, I think there is a little over paranoia with cold cuts. As I've said before, I've had cold cut sandwiches almost every day for years and years and years and I've never once gotten sick. The likelihood of getting listeria from cold cuts is so slim that to me, it's silly to avoid them. I have my sandwich once in a while and enjoy.

Re: Cold cuts
I eat them, but personally I would be hesitant about sandwiches ordered by my company. I don't know where they got them and I don't know how long they have been sitting out. But then again I couldn't have them anyway because I am gluten free, but if I could I don't know if I would.

Re: Cold cuts
I haven't really, but I don't really love cold cuts so I don't eat them much to begin with. This past weekend we were pre-gaming for a concert and our friends served hero and I ate it. I wasn't gonna starve! LOL
If I really liked them, I am sure I would eat them occasionally.

If you a familiar with a deli and you know it's good then I say eat away!!! I miss sandwiches on real bread!!!!
My OB said yes to cold cuts, just not if they are sitting out too long or if you don't know where or when they were bought. So pretty much to steer clear at most parties......

Re: Cold cuts
I've only had cold cuts once; and they were on a sandwhich I made at home heated to steaming hot. I peronally just haven't eated cold cuts any other time. At 36 weeks though; I told DH that's the first thing I want him to bring me in the hospital! Turkey w/Swiss cheese; lettuce & mayo on a roll from the deli with seafood salad!! LOL!

Re: Cold cuts
I do. My doctor said it's fine. As long as it's a cooked meat, I shouldn't worry. He's been doing the OB thing for 30 years. I trust him : ) He also said I can drink diet coke in moderation too (1 or 2 cups a day).

I'm not. Not because there is a significant risk, but because I'm anxious about everything anyway, why add to it LOL
BUT I have a requested a Italian hero after I give birth to be brought to the hospital

Cold cuts
I ate them my entire pregnancy.
This whole no cold cuts is just another one fo the no-nos of the moment.I had 2 OBs (switched part way through) and both said they are FINE. Just like anything else. Eat anything in moderation.

Cold cuts
My OB said not to and I don't. I don't want to add to my anxiety of something going wrong. Plus, besides the whole listeria thing, I don't want my baby getting the nitrates. I'm sure the ones from the deli aren't the nitrate free version

I stay away from the roast beef unless it's really hot, I don't eat bologna, or salami anyways. I'll have my turkey cold and my buff. chicken cold. But my OB said in moderation everything is fine, just don't over do it!
