coffee
If you are a coffee drinker, do you still drink regular or have you switched to decaff?
I thought that you really weren't supposed to have much (no more than basically one small cup per day) from what I read online prior to talking with my OB.
However, my OB said no more than 4 cups (regular obviously- not starbucks or anything crazy). That is a lot more than I thought..
Anyway- I have been drinking half to 3/4 of my coffee travel mug throughout the day, and baby is doing well.
Just wondering if I am being bad or if this really is OK...what my doc told me seems a bit high to me..

Re: coffee
You are fine.... To be honest, our parents never had these types of restrictions and we all turned out fine... I think its getting to be a bit much... But from what Ive read, if a reg coffee is 100mg, try to have just 2 max...
On a side note, I used to LOVE coffee, but sinice even before bfp, Ive had no interest in it!! But I do try to drink decaf iced tea and drink reg tea on occasion...

Re: coffee
My doctor said 2 cups of coffee a day are fine (regular size nothing crazy). The first trimester I gave up coffee even though I didn't have to but have gone back to one cup every morning. I think its totally fine.

Same here. I drink about 1/2 to 2/3 of my travel mug each morning. The NP I met with at my first appt. said it was totally fine and she was sooooo strict about most things. I figure if she said yes to that it must really be safe.

Re: coffee
My Dr said no more than 200mg/day - that is about 1 cup or a grande at Starbucks.
I've tried to get decaf most days and only get caffeine when I really need it.

Re: coffee
For the first 14 or so weeks I had no interest bc I felt so sick. But since, I've been having 1-2 cups/day. Especially since International Delight Pumpkin creamer is back!

Re: coffee
I have a cup of half decaf/half regular in the morning, and another cup in the afternoon around 3pm totaling a full cup of coffee a day.

Re: coffee
My OB didn't even give me specific guidelines, just said to cut down. That being said, I definitely have less than 200 mg/day but there are days when I have nothing and others where I have some tea, maybe a soda. I agree with one of the PP who brought up how they never used to have these guidelines. My mother drank a LOT of coffee while pregnant with me and I'm fine

Re: coffee
my regular doctor told me to limit it, but when I met with the ob who is going to deliver my baby she said it was fine to have caffeine. I was telling her I was doing a mix of half decaf and half regular and she told me I could go back to my regular, but I drink a large iced coffee in the morning and I just think its too much caffeine so I'm still doing the half and half mix, but if I make it at home I'll have 2 cups of regular coffee

Re: coffee
My OB and everything I have read about it says 1 cup of regular coffee per day and that only applies to the 2nd and 3rd trimester. No caffeinated coffee during your first trimester, it increases chance of miscarriage.
I drink one cup of regular in the AM and if I want another cup during the day, I'll have decaf.
