Clomid for men?

My friend says her husband takes Clomid for his low sperm count and that it really helps. How come my dr never told me this? Can it really help in the male factor?

Re: Clomid for men?

It helps for men who have a hormonal imbalance (i believe testosterone) which in turn impacts their sperm production. Clomid doesnt create healthy sperm. It corrects the hormonal imbalances which in turns helps improve sperm count.

This!

Clomid in men helps increase testosterone levels, which in turn balances other hormones and re-stimulates sperm production. It doesn't work for everyone, but if low T is an issue, it's worth a shot.

So does this take a long time to work? I was about to move on to IVF and wondering if I should try this.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with your history. What issues are you/your husband facing? Does he have a hormonal imbalance?

For any man, it takes 3 months for sperm to be produced and fully mature. So if Clomid would work for your husband, it would likely take a minimum of 3 months to see improvement. But, if he has hormonal imbalances, the dr would run b/w after a few weeks on Clomid and you'd know almost immediately if his hormones returned to a normal level.

I have possible PCOS, high testosterone, short LP, irregular cycles.
My husband has slightly low testosterone, low SC, and low mobility.

from my experience, it sounds like it would be something that could help your husband. NO harm in asking your dr!

Good Luck!

A urologist would be able to guide your DH in the right direction,
Good luck!!

It sounds like Clomid might help your husband. It should bring his t up, which could help his count.

But, with your issues, you might still need to see an RE since it sounds like getting pg naturally might be tough.

I agree with PP...a urologist who specializes in male infertility can help. I can recommend someone in the city, if you need it.
