Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

I don't think I will be doing a trigger but I am not 100% sure.

Is it necessary??

What factors determine whether or not you would need the trigger?

Re: Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

I did and it worked..i think it depends on the RE. It can help control when to release a follie and schedule IUI. For example, i triggered on a Fri am and then did IUI on a Sat am. I BD on that Thurs night and again on Sat night after IUI and i got pregnant!!!

Good Luck

I think my RE said that the trigger is what makes all of the mature eggs ovulate instead of just 1 dominant one - but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Re: Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

With clomid I didn't do trigger, except for one time I was having trouble finding my surge and went to the office. It was my 3rd IUI w/clomid and I was very nervous about missing that time frame for O. So, they gave me the trigger for the heck of it. Though it turned out the b/w showed I was surging. Sorry to report it didn't work for me, but I found out clomid was not good for me b/c of my uterus issues.

<---- Yup!!

I did clomid for 3 months without triggers and if that didn't work I was going to do triggers. I do think a lot of dr.'s do the triggers with IUI's but my dr. wanted to try without first.

Re: Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

I triggered with Ovidrel. I was not ovulating on my own, so i just assumed it was necessary to ensure that the follicles were released. I took clomid 50mg CD5-9, triggered CD 16 (we had BD'd the morning of CD16 for fun, not realizing i would trigger that night). I had 2 follicles that were 22cm, but we were waiting to hear on my lab work to see if my levels were where they needed to be. I had IUIs on CD17 and 18. Got my BFP 13dpiui (yesterday). This was our first cycle using any intervention. Hope this helps.

Re: Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

What CD are you on?
When i went for my CD3 testing, that's when they gave me the prescription for the Clomid and the Ovidrel. They told me to start Clomid on CD5 and to fill the prescription for ovidrel but put it in the fridge until they instructed me to use it.

right now CD 4...started clomid last night. I didn't realize the trigger was something you did yourself. I thought it was given by the doctor. Hopefully will have an IUI sometime next week

I think my RE said that the trigger is what makes all of the mature eggs ovulate instead of just 1 dominant one - but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I got a +OPK before I had a chance to trigger so I did not use it but instead had IUI the next morning. I asked my RE about that and he said that it did not matter, that if you ovulate on your own all mature follicles will drop, the trigger versus ovulating on your own will not make a difference.

Re: Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

I asked about it all and the process. I liked it because i felt like it helped the timing of it all..keep in mind, they cant always time it bc the body will do what it wants but for me, it seemed to work well because no kidding my due date was to the day i got inseminated..thought that was interesting ..she has measured to the exact day! I am so glad i did all that i did..hang in there. It is worth it

Re: Clomid and IUI...did everyone do a trigger?

Nope. I did 5 IUI's. The last two were with clomid. The last one worked. Never did a trigger.

I ovulate on my own, so they wanted me to try a cycle where I would get the IUI after my + OPK. The next cycle after trigger I had back 2 back IUIs. The trigger made me release both mature follicles. On my own I would have only released the most mature one.
