cleaning lady pricing question

I just got a quote and it sounded a bit high to me, I wanted to see what you girls thought. She told me that the first visit will be $100 and that if she comes bi-weekly, each visit will then be $70. We live in a ranch, it's very small...only 1000 square feet. We don't really use the basement yet bc we just moved in so I told her all she really needs to do is vacuum the carpet there. Does the price sound right? TIA

I think that's a very good price. The initial clean is always priced a little higher and $70 every other week seems reasonable to me.

Granted, I live in Queens and for some reason had an impossible time finding someone to arrive on time for less then $100 for a one bedroom apt.

I think $70 every other week is very reasonable.

i've had cleaning ladies in various apartments and its always been around $65 - $75 biweekly, and our house is now $85
so $70 definitely sounds good to me

$70 is what I pay for my small house.

I pay $100 for an 1100 sq foot apt.

Did they tell you how long they would take? If they can clean the house in say 2 hours, then I think $70 is a bit high.

I pay $60 for a 2800 sq foot house w/ 4 LARGE bedrooms.

I'm in Bklyn, One Bedroom (1,200 square feet) we have our Cleaning Lady (based in Queens) come every 2 weeks, and she charges us $50!

I think that is high. Especially since your house is 1000 sq ft. I think $50 bi weekly is more reasonable!

i think that's very high! i pay the same amount and my house is 2000 sq ft--so double yours! and i have 2 babies so there's a lot to clean!

not everyone charges more for the first cleaning--my lady doesn't. my house doesn't need a "deep clean"--it's the same every week whether i was the one cleaning it, or she was. to me that's a way to get more money.

Eh... it's standard. Finding somebody to do ANY house at $50 every two weeks is difficult.

I think that is great $70 but I had no idea that the cleaning ladies were this cheap.

If I had to clean someone elses house I would be charging alot more.
What exactly will she be doing ??

I got a quote of $70 and have a small ranch as well. I thought it was very high, but I used her the last two times because my friend highly recommends her. I haven't included the spare room (full of storage stuff for now) or the basement yet (in construction). Not sure if I will look for someone else once I add those rooms. I wonder if we have the same lady =;)
