CIO Moms Help
DS is almost 18 months old. I have always done CIO with both of my boys and it has always worked. DS is giving me a TERRIBLE time at naps again, crying for 10 minutes or more. I have also always done the extinction method which is the only one that worked for both boys. If I go in it just makes it 100 times worse. SO, is this just a phase? He has also been waking up every night between 1 and 2 am and crying pretty hard for 10 min or so each time. I have not gone in yet, but should I? OR is this just a normal phase? IF so, how long will it or does it usually last?
Thanks so much for any advice. Even though I WHOLE HEARTEDLY believe in CIO it still makes me so incredibly sad to hear him cry.....

CIO Moms Help
CIO stopped working for us after a while. I have no advice b/c for naps I have to rub her back until she sleeping. I think they get to old and understand after a while.
On ocassion if I let her CIO w/out going in she cries hard but will fall asleep after a while but most times I can't take the crying especilly at nap. I just want her to sleep haha

We did extinction Cio with both our boys too. Ds2 is 22 months he will go through phases where he gives me a harder time going to sleep. I just let him work through it. There will be times he gets more works up and I may give him a few oz of milk to calm him. But unless he gets to the "throwing up" point (he will make himself puke) I just leave him for at leastb90 minutes. Some days he may fight the nap all together and later when i am cooking dinner I will find him asleep watching TV. Lol
Anyway from my experience it is a phase, but if it continues for a week or 2 I would conside making some changes, maybe he needs his nap pushed back, or maybe he is teething, etc

Does he ever give you trouble in the middle of the night as part of this "phase"? It's so hard to know if something is wrong or if he is just going through the phase. I would think if something was "wrong" that he would cry longer than 10 minutes, no?

I am guessing it is probably a phase. Is he learnign something new or teeth? My DS always has sleep issues when he is learning something or teething. Last night he was up almost hourly but I never went in and his crying boughts were short. I have had nights where he would cry for over an hour. I left him and he would finally sleep. He always goes back to regular sleeping though after few days or so.

Not sure if he is either teething or learning anything new. MAYBE teeth (top molars) but again, I would think if he were truly in pain that he wouldn't be able to calm himself in such a short time, right?
Also, he is going through a VERY big "mommy" phase where he wants nothing to do with anybody but me, so I wonder if that's part of it????

I was just reading an article today about when they learn something then many times they regress in other things. And they said if your snormally independant LO is now clingy then it might also be another sign of soemthing new.
You might not realize it until after and then you will say OH that's what the issue was.
I think its just a normal bump in the road. GL!
