CIO Major Help Needed

My 21 month old son has always been (emphasis on been) an excellent sleeper. He even slept through the night the first night home from the hospital. However, in the past few weeks or so he has been giving us an incredibly hard time going to sleep at night (and some trouble at naptime too). We are trying to let him CIO, but on two occasions he got himself so worked up he vomited in his crib (we were watching him on his monitor and we'd barely left him for more than a minute both times.) this obviously is quite upsetting to me and makes me feel terrible since this is not what I want for him. Any suggestions here??

I write this as he woke up screaming for me and wants me to pick him up out of his crib. So upsetting and frustrating....

Re: CIO Major Help Needed

So sorry you are going through this.

Is he getting his 2 yr molars. Dd was like the devil when they were commg through. She as well has been sttn since 1 month. And when she starts waking up like that I know something's up. I would give Motrin tonight and see if that helps.

Dd is 2 1/2 and after Thanksgiving we were in a rut. She was awful to put to bed and nap time. We are finally gettig I to a better Rhythm again. It's taken a lot of time in her room with her. Letting her cry, rubbing her back, it's been insane. There are also some fears around this age. Does he have a night light, some thing to sleep with?

I wound up tears every night with her b/c it's awful to hear and see. Hang in there. I know it's rough but you will get back o. Track

Thank you! We did do Motrin last night in case it was the molars, he has a nightlight and sleeps with his giraffe or monkey every night (depending on who is clean). It was brutal and he was up from 11:30 pm to 2:00 am last night. I'm a FT working mom and I'm dying this morning.

Uughhh sorry. I know how hard it is. I would continue to give Motrin at least one more night and see. The molars took forever to come through. Dd was a different child. These were the only teeth that really affected her. I would just try and soothe him as best as possible until you get back on routine. It sounds like something is bothering him.

My DS is going through soemthing too. He cried for an hour last night before he finally gave in. He was sleeping great and since thursday he has been a beast. Last night he went to sleep great but then wok at 1130. I finally gave some tylenol and let him cry. I am hoping tonight won't be as bad but I am going to keep letting him cry....we were at the Drs on Sat so I know he is not sick.

Thank you girls! Tonight went MUCH better then last night for sure. I gave him benedryl about 20 min before bed since I think it could be his molars and I called the ped who said I could try it to help calm him tonight. I'm going to start a different and more structured bedtime routine (although I thought mine was pretty structured) by reading a book while he has his milk, brushing his teeth and then lights out sing one song to him and then out I go. It worked tonight, but let's see if it works as well tomorrow night without the benedryl.
