CIO for naps? Am I a terrible parent for considering this?
I am at my wit's end trying to get my 6 month old DD to nap regularly. I'm literally out of ideas on how to get her to sleep on a schedule. Every 6-8 weeks, her nap schedule implodes, and I have to start again. It's like each time I find a time frame that works, she changes her mind. If she doesn't sleep, she's miserable.
I want to just put her in her crib when she looks tired and let her cry until she conks out. Am I a terrible mother for considering CIO for naps?

CIO for naps is fine if you're sure she's tired enough to nap

ditto. DS is 19 months but if i know hes tired and just wants to complain ill leave him in the crib and within 2 minutes he's passed out.

She's giving all of her usual "I'm exhausted!" signals. But rocking, nursing, soft music, etc just stopped working. Her eyes will open and she starts to cry the second I put her down.

CIO is teaching them how to sleep, it is def ok for you to let them cio for naps... you are an awesome mother for teaching your baby how to sleep healthy!!!

Re: CIO for naps? Am I a terrible parent for considering this?
Im at the same point
My DD doesnt nap at all during the day. I know she is tired though because she is SO, SO crabby. My mother suggested I just put her in the crib at the same time everyday and let her CIO until she falls asleep. I too am at my wits end; I can barely pee or have a cup of coffee anymore
I think I am going to try it. This morning I let her cry alittle at 6:45 and she ended up falling back asleep until 8. Total blessing.

Re: CIO for naps? Am I a terrible parent for considering this?
This is probably in my future. DD goes down for naps, BUT, I have to basically rock her or walk her around until she's out. If I put her down awake--even seriously drowsy--she pops up and eventually cries. I'm going to wait a little longer (she's 5 months) and probably have to do CIO to get her to sleep on her own.
Even now though, I let her "fuss" for several minutes because sometimes she will fall asleep on her own.

Re: CIO for naps? Am I a terrible parent for considering this?
i did it because every time my ds would start crying and I went in to him he would have a HUGE smile on his face. It only took 2 or 3 days of cio for about 10 to 15 min on and off and now he is napping like a champ. The only issues I have is if I miss his "window" from when he first starts to show ge is getting tired then he will fuss a little when I putt him down.
good luck
