Christmas Lights question
Has ANYONE ever used Christmas lights for more than one year? Every year we take them off and wrap them up all nicely and then the next year, none of them work!
We just checked 8 packages of lights and only TWO work so I have to go out and buy all new lights like we do every year!
It is so frustrating, bc we never remember until we get into the tree trimming mood and then you have to stop everything and go to the store!

Re: Christmas Lights question
I used to keep my lights for years. But the last tree I bought (we have a fake) came with the lights already on it, and we haven't had any problems in 3 years. I'll never do it the other way again.

Re: Christmas Lights question
I've had all of my lights for the past 4 years. I've been lucky. When I am finished with them, I carefully wrap them and store them all together in a dry place. So far so good.

Re: Christmas Lights question
I have used the same sets of lights for the past 3 years. No problems whatsoever. At the end of the season I carefully wrap them up & then put them in one of those rubbermaid containers...

Re: Christmas Lights question
I have the same lights since 1990! THye are the big old colored lights. It was my dads and he stopped using them a few years ago and he gave them to me for our new house.
I love those lights call me old school! I still think they made them better back then!
We have 9 sets and they are still going strong. Few replacement bulbs and a fuse or 2 but they are still good!

oh we have those too and they last forever!!! but we just use them as accent lights and the majorityof the lights we use are the smaller, newer ones - and we wrap them up and put them away every year!
to make things WORSE, i cleaned off my car, drove to the christmas store, bought 4 packages of lights. . . then drove BACK home and . . .
i bought the lights with the white wires instead of the green so NOW i have to go back tomorrow to switch them
i dont even feel like decorating anymore - i put everything away so now i just have a naked fake tree in the middle of the living room
Anyway, you ladies are luck with your lights!! I am jealous

Re: Christmas Lights question
I always get clear minilights. I've had it go both ways.... breaking within 1 season, and lasting several years.
All the lights sets that broke quickly came from discount stores . I finally replaced them with lights from target, and all has been well for several years. I think it's no name lights vs brand name

Re: Christmas Lights question
We've had the same lights for a couple years now although I do buy more at the end of the holidays when they are on sale. So far I have had the best luck with the lights from Target. The ones we bought from Harrows didn't make it longer than 2 years.
We store them in a rubbermaid type container.

Re: Christmas Lights question
We carefully wrap the lights each year and pack them alone together without any other Xmas stuff around them.
We opened all the strings yesterday and every single one worked and we had 7 strings.

Re: Christmas Lights question
We have had some of the same problems........so This year, we decided to try the new LED lights....They are much brighter, are suppose to last for years, and we even received a $2.00 discount per box from LIPA b/c they are energy efficient.... so far, we loveeee them..
