***Christmas Eve Menus***

Let me hear them.

I'm hosting my first Christmas Eve. Unfortunately me, my mom & sister all don't eat seafood ::gasp:: haha, so I won't be having the big italian seafood christmas eve but still will be serving Italian.. .

Apps-

Artichoke Dip
cold antipasto

Dinner-

My homemade Bolognese w/pasta
Sausage & Peppers with homemade sauce
Chicken Marsala
Salad

(is that enough?? Maybe I throw in broccoli??)

Dessert-

I cannot decide, I need to see others or research!

Re: ***Christmas Eve Menus***

Our Christmas Eve is a little different because I'm doing more of a 'cocktail'/buffet type thing (about 30-40 people) rather than a formal sit down. Plus.. I just have no money so I had to pare things down. But here's what I have narrowed it to:

Appetizers:

Cheese and Sausage board (Stilton, Camembert, Cheddar, Asiago, Pepperoni, Salami, Sopressata) with flatbreads and grapes

Melon wrapped Prosciutto

Roasted Shrimp Cocktail

Crudite of fresh veg with tzaziki and hummus dip

Cheeseburger sliders and pigs in blankets

BLT stuffed cherry tomatoes

Crab quiche (MIL)

Sausage bread (Friend)

Larger course:

Baked ziti

Spinach & kumquat salad

Spiral ham

Mashed Potato bar

Hayley's Burnt Broccoli

Desserts:

Thumbprints

Chocolate chip cookies

Chocolate Fudge Cake w/buttercream icing

Double Fudge Cookies (Friend)

Brownies (Friend)

This is subject to change because I am not scheduled to hit up the store until Wednesday and I'm a fickle one!!

We have a hispanic Christmas eve every year, but this year my mom wants to change it up so we might do an italian thing with pastas and such.

Re: ***Christmas Eve Menus***

We're just having a small Christmas Eve with my mom and are having a BIG Christmas day instead. DH doesn't really eat seafood, so we can't do all the fish, but instead we just do no meat. We'll be having:

Shrimp cocktail
Stuffed artichokes
Penne ala vodka (no prosciutto)
Sweet potatoes
Sauteed mushrooms
Salad
Fruit and cake

Re: ***Christmas Eve Menus***

only a few of us this year so i am keeping it small....

for pickings i'm doing fried calzones (we call them frit, they are like a fried 2 bite calzone), homemade foccacia bread (MIL's family recipe that she taught me, it's like a pizza bread), raw clams, mozzarella & tomato and mussels - i have a new recipe for the mussels, after cooking them in garlic and oil on the stove i am baking them in the oven with the garlic&oil juice drizzled on top and then topping with a little bit of breadcrumb and seasoning - hopefully comes out good...

for dinner scungilli in a spicy marinara sauce with bread for dunking and then shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta

might do a salad and for desert i don't know! i might just tell my mom to pick up a cake from the bakery...
