Re: Christening Help (Centerpieces, Favors & Gown)

My son's christening is mid October as well so I was going to do mums as centerpieces. That way people can take them home. I am just going to go to home depot a few days before and pick them up.

For Favors, I am doing photo edible white chocolates. I have attached a ppic for your reference. I am getting them from emma's edible images on ebay.

For my son's christening suit, I went to Little dicken's. If you don't mind spending $$$, I would go there. The gowns they had for little girls are to die for. But, they are pricey.

Little Dicken's is in Lake Grove I think. You can google it and it will come up. It was a 40 minute drive for me, but I still feel it was worth it.

Mums are a flowering plant. You will recognize them once you see them. They are the fall plant everyone always has outside. But you don't need to get the huge ones like you would put outside. I am getting a reasonably sized one for a table.

I LOVE Goobsters favors..

For centerpieces, i would do pumpkins!! And i could also put fake leaves down underneathe them, small vases with candy corns..fake acorns, etc..

For favors, if you dont want the cookies, id DEFINATELY do candy apples..i would totally go with the "fall" thing.

As far as a dress goes..i had mine made from my wedding gown, but Charlottes Kids in massapequa has BEAUTIFUL stuff too.

It is so funny that you say candy apples as a favor. I thought of doing these too but DH was like what about the people who are coming with dentures? We have a handful of them. I would have loved to do them though. I think that is a great idea! If I hadn't picked out my blue and brown color scheme already I would totally rock the pumpkin centerpiece idea too! Great ideas :)

Ohhh I love the idea of the cotton candy. Two questions: where do I get it and how would you make the presentation on the table? Sorry to hijack the post, but I am really loving your ideas.

Re: Christening Help (Centerpieces, Favors & Gown)

DDs gown from Charlottes, it was gorgeous, shiny, silk gown. I fell in love with it instantly. They had such a nice, fancy selection. Dresses look MUCH more elegant in person, the website does not do the dresses justice.

And the cookie favors were from

I also used Emma's Edibles for Photo Cookies, which were covered with chocolate (white and dark) and I had her put on a stick. I also had photo chocolate lollipops (white and dark). Her prices so reasonable compared to all the other places that do photo cookies.

For the centerpieces I took the lollipops and chocolate covered cookies on a stick and placed them in a rectangular vase (with styrofoam on the bottom to hold the sticks) decorated with a lavendar ribbon. I them added custom white and lavendar m&m's (which had the christening date, her name and god bless written on them) on the bed of the vase to cover the styrofoam.

In essence, I used the favors as the centerpieces which saved me money and the guests loved.

For DD's dress I went to a boutique on Fresh Pond Road in Queens, if you are in Queens and interested I can give you the details

Re: Christening Help (Centerpieces, Favors & Gown)

I would do Chocolate Malted Balls, or blue and brown m&m's (although the bigger the candy, the less expensive since youll use less) and put them in vases (see if you can get either old fashioned ice cream glasses, or cone shaped vases from Michaels), then i would pre order cotton candy (most of those party guys/entertainment companies will make it for you, i have a guy who used to do it, ill email him to see if he still does)and i would use the cotton candy in HUGE puffs, as an "arrangement" on top..
if you dont want to use edible cotton candy, ive used blue cotton (you could spray it, play around with it) around the edges of a vase before too..OR nix the cotton candy, and use marabou..lots you can do..

Sorry gabbie, fm if you want any other suggestions, im going on a rampage lol

btw..gorgeous dress goobster!

Re: Christening Help (Centerpieces, Favors & Gown)

We got our cake from Dortoni's in Levittown.

Favors and Centerpieces - we combined in one and did personalized cookies individually wrapped and set up as centerpieces. We used Cookies by Design.

Gowns - we got DD's in Lobel's (Massapequa), but Charlotte's Kids (Massapequa and Wantagh) had beautiful ones too and so does the Tri County Flea Market (Levittown)

Good luck!
