Choroid Plexus Cyst
I am 37 and we are having our 3rd baby. I just had my 19 week sonogram and it revealed an isolated choroid plexus cyst. My NT test came back 1/986 for Trisonomy 21 and 1/5200 for Trisonomy 18. I did not have the AFP done because of all the false positives. Has anyone opted to do the amnio after getting results like this? Just worried because I am older and not sure what to do.

Re: Choroid Plexus Cyst
When we had our 20w sono they found 2 of those. 1 on each side. We went to the specialist and they reassured us everything was fine (Fetal specialist, Genetic Counselors, etc) and that these were fairly common. They thoroughly checked the baby again and they didn't find anything else, she was perfect. My #'s came back from my NT scan with almost 1 in 8,000 for Downs and 1 in over 10,000 for Trisomy 18 so they are not concerned at all. I was told that at some point in the near future they won't be using these as markers anymore since they've become very common and usually go away on their own. I also found out yesterday that someone's baby had on of those on her brain and a spot on her heart and she is perfectly fine!
Also, so many ladies on here went through the same thing and reassured me that everything will be fine and that their LO is too! They truly made me feel better. You can do a search with my name and you'll see the responses.
Good luck, and try not to worry!
ETA: We are both almost 33 yrs old and this is also our 3rd baby. We didn't have an amnio, none of the doctors thought it was necessary and I didn't have the AFP done this time either because my numbers came back so great with the NT scan. I did only do the AFP with my other babies and not the NT scan. I didn't know insurance covered it.

Re: Choroid Plexus Cyst
My first DS had this. I don't have time to write much right now because we are on our way out, but they resolved a few weeks later and he is now a healthy 26 month old. FM me with any questions.

Re: Choroid Plexus Cyst
Thank you for all of the great information. We had the echogenic focus with our daughter and she is fine. The office told me I was actually 18 wks 6 days. I went to get the AFP done this morning. Figured I would get that before jumping to an amnio. Hope that comes back good. I did not worry with my daughter but I was not over 35. For some reason my age has me more concerned this time. I know it is silly. Thank you for sharing and providing me with hope.

Re: Choroid Plexus Cyst
Both of my kids had one. In both cases it resolved itself a few weeks later & caused no issues at all.

Re: Choroid Plexus Cyst
At 16 weeks they discovered a choroid plexus cysts on my DD brain as well. I freaked too. Was so upset. I had had a normal nuchal scan back at 12 weeks (but chose not to do the blood work portion).
Anyway...I was very upset....looked it up online all day and night for the next 5 weeks. At my 20+ week sono it had resolved.
Good luck. I am sure it is the same for you
