Choosing nursery school

I am super confused about which nursery school to choose for my son. Right now he is in a nursery school located in the next town over from where I live. It's small and there is not a lot of mom involvement. I am very involved. Sometimes, I am one of the few moms at an event. However, as far as the school goes, my son loves it and I think he is learning amazing things. There is another school in my town that is much bigger with a lot of kids from our neighborhood. This school is pretty awesome too. The only thing is it has a stereotype of having snobby moms. I have no idea if the stereotype is true or not. So, I guess this is my dilemma. Stick where I am comfortable, but am not meeting friends or go somewhere and take a chance that the social aspects are better. Thoughts?

If your son loves where he is and is learning, I would keep him where he is now. No need to switch.

Thank you for responding! Do you think it would be better if he is in a school with more prospects for long-term friends? Or, he's happy, leave well snough alone... Make friends and play dates elsewhere.

Are theses schools just for nursery/pre-k? If so, I'd leave well enough alone. There will be plenty of Kids coming from plenty of places (various nurseries, day cares, etc.) all coming together for kindergarten.

If he's happy, leave him where he is.

He can meet friends at the park, library, etc.

You guys are right. Kids will be coming from dozens of ore-schools and day cares. My son is very happy and honesty the moms are nice enough, so there is so pressure. He is learning a lot. I've decided to keep him. I imagined that things would be better socially elsewhere, but who knows.

I'd take reputations with a grain of salt...
Do a tour, check it out & see. It's only a year.
May be good to expose him to a different system as well.

Choosing nursery school

I wouldn't choose a preschool just based on the town. How many kids really make life long friends when they are 3? I mean I know it can happen but I would think it is very very rare.

Agreed as well...

And sometimes reputations are earned. Why change when hes happy and comfortable. THATS the most important thing. Not whether or not the moms are social. Not if hes going to make a lifetime friend. Hes 3 hes got plenty of time to make lifetime friends. And youll have plenty of time to meet other moms.
