Child Care Cost
I have a question: should you have to pay more for a sitter to come to your home to watch your child as opposed to dropping your child off to their home? What is your opinion?

Re: Child Care Cost
Definitely more for someone to come to our house.
We looked at a few drop off babysitters. Most of the ones we looked at like that either watched multiple kids or had kids of their own.
All the babysitters who would come to our home would come solo and watch only our kids.

yes, it makes sense to have to pay more for the one on one attention that a child would get in your home. I just want to be fair. We started with a price when we thought the sitter was coming to our home. We now bring DS to her home, so I wasn't sure how this would work pay wise...

Child Care Cost
I lost a babysitter over this issue. When we hired her she was to come to our home. Then as time went on she had excuse after excuse as to why I had to bring her to her house. So I told her I wasnt going to pay her the same rate. She didnt like it so she quit!
She wasnt watching other kids (besides her grandkids) at her house but it was more work for me to bring DD there and all of her things.

Yes, you pay more for the convenience - think about it, you don't have to pack bags, get your baby ready, prepare food, hustle out the house.
Basically someone coming to your home means they work on your schedule, not the other way around. You pay a premium for that.

Re: Child Care Cost
Yes, this sitter watches DS in her home now. I wasn't sure if that would change the pay at all... Thank you for your help

Re: Child Care Cost
In home should be paid more. If you think about it, they can still clean and go about much of their business and clean when the baby/child is there

Re: Child Care Cost
Yes, I would definitely expect to pay more for someone to come to my house vs. dropping DC off at someone else's house.
