charge
anyone ever hear of a dr office charging you per page to copy your files and send them over to another dr office when switching? my dr charged me 75 cents x 71 pages plus 2.83 postage!!!!!!

it is petty. thats why im writing a note with the check when i send it becaus enot only have i been going to him for 15 years! but my mother has been going to him for like 30. he delivered me and my sister! i am so mad. and im only switching because i have to because he doesnt deliver anymore.

the only time they dont charge you is if you are seeing another doctor for a 2nd opinion.. then they will copy them for free.
but yea its like that with every doctor.. they charge per page...
my advice is to pick them up and copy all of them yourself so if you need to switch again you have most of your records

I'm actually waiting for my medical records to be mailed to me. I have to pay 75 cents a page too  Which reminds me, I asked for them 2 & 1/2 weeks ago and still have heard nothing....I have to give them a call!!

I've never heard of a Dr NOT charging you for your files, so I wouldn't get too upset about it. It's a VERY common practice. I agree with Deanna - I'd recommend picking them up yourself so that you can make as many copies as you'd like.

Yup, when I aged out of going to my pediatrician they wanted to charge to copy all the pages in my records. Pretty ridiculous, actually
