Changing over LIPA and Keyspan

Hi,

We just bought a house and it looks like we are closing on the 15th. We currently live in an apartment. How do I change over LIPA and Keyspan from the apartment to the house? How long does it usually take for them to do it? Sorry if I sound like a moron but this is all really new to me..

You just have to call them and tell them when you are taking over the house and they should come out that morning of the closing to read the meter and then they will switch it to your name.

You can either call them or do it on their websites. You tell them the date you are closing and it will all be done automatically.

Also call whoever the water supplier is for the house.

Thank you so much. I guess I do that for Cablevision as well.

Just call the municipalties, let the know the exact date of close, and they'll change the bills over for you, and initate a new billing service (to new address). For cablevision, you'll have to schedule an ppt for them to come and set everything up at the new house for you.

Re: Changing over LIPA and Keyspan

cablevision will have to come to your home to set it up, but LIPA and keyspan are automatic. Call them up, and tell them the date to turn on the power to your house, and the date to shut off the power at your apartment, and that is it.... very simple. Chat Icon
