changing my ways... with money
tonight, i'm getting together with three girlfriends. we'll be hanging out at a red lobster.
the "old me" (taught by my dad), who hates to do the math at the table when splitting a check, would just throw my cc or debit card on the table and be done with it.
nine out of 10 times, people don't give me their share of the cost.
ladies and gentlemen, this is how i got to be so loved and so poor.
now that i'm working so hard to progress financially, i want to stop doing that.
does anyone have any tips on how i can stop myself from doing that tonight??
i really need to break this habit.

Bring a calculator and cash (lots of singles too so you have exact change)

I agree. With cash you can put in your exact share

Or just ask to have a separate check, unless you're sharing appetizers. Then it might be difficult.

Leave your credit card at home.
Bring the amount you want to spend, including 5's 10's and singles so you can give the right amount.
Have fun!!!

Re: changing my ways... with money
I absolutely never ever pay with my credit uard unless there are just two of us and we are splitting the bill 50/50 because we ordered things of the same price. You know in advance that you are going out to dinner, so stop at an ATM. A waiter can always split a 20 for you if you need smaller bills to pay your share. Or go to a bank teller today and get a 20 broken into small bills. This way you can always leave your share.

I would definitely ask to do this - most places will do it for you. In case they don't, bring cash and like the ladies above said, make sure you have singles, $5s, $10's, etc so you can give the exact amount that you want to give.
And can I just add that I am really impressed by your money changing ways. A lot of people make money changes in their lives, but the big kind and forget how the day to day things can really affect your wallet. So, kudos to you!
