Changing Dr to Midwife question.
My OB has a midwife on staff and after seeing "The Business of Being Born", I am starting to think that I will want to deliver with her rather than with my OB... but deliver in the hospital with the midwife.
So my question is, what would you do here?
Would you just switch to the midwife now?
Tell my OB what my birth plan is and see if he's game?
See if they will work together throughout the pregnancy (using the OB as a back up in the hospital)?
I'm really confused and concerned that my Dr. will push epidurals and c-section when it's not necessary. Am I over thinking this???

if this is a concern of yours, TALK to your doctor! not all doctors push ANYTHING! mine didn't push an epidural (i alone wanted one!) or a c-section--even though i pushed for 5 hours! he let me call ALL the shots as long as the baby and i weren't in danger.
there's nothing wrong with changing doctors if that's what you're comfortable with. but don't assume your doctor will do any of the things you saw in a video.
good luck.

Re: Changing Dr to Midwife question.
I would think that since your OB has a midwife on staff he/she is probably pretty open to your using her....maybe go over your birth plan with your doc and ask if he thinks that for the type of birth you are aiming for if it would make more sense to have the midwife attend to you?
