Cereal at 4 mos old? Thoughts? And should I start w Rice or Oatmeal

So I tried the rice this morning. He ate about 3 small mouthfuls--smiled grunted and was happy. Fourth time though he made an "eww" face. Not sure how I feel about starting this, but wanted some feedback. He swallowed all and spit nothing out.

We started with DS on Friday - he did the same thing.

Yesterday went a little bit better - he had a few more bites and actually opened his mouth a bit.

I think I may introduce Oatmeal today (ped said we could but, not to introduce anything new until we waited 3 days). I asked some friends over the weekend and they said their kids preferred the oatmeal.

ETA - Just remember (as my mom told me when she was there as I fed him) that he doesn't know how to swallow yet so it will take some time - he only knows how to suck down formula/BM.

They get it more and more every day so i'd stick with it. We introduced rice first and oatmeal a few days later and she likes both but seems to like oatmeal better.

DD had the same reaction at first. It is new, so it takes them a few days to get used to it. I'd stick out the rice for a few more days.

You can switch after a few days. My son always prefered barley over oatmeal or rice.
