rice cereal for a 7 wk old?...

has anyone used this so DC can sleep during the nite!! if so how do you use it...

I didn't use this, but using rice cereal in the bottle to get them to sleep is a myth.

My MIL did this with her kids beginning at 3 weeks. She said it works, I heard this was SIDS related. I guess it's a personal thing.

This is a myth. My DS eats solids 3x a day and still does not sleep through the night.
Also, cereal in the bottle can be a choking hazard.

I know it is so hard to be sleep deprived, but this is an old wives tale. Sorry.

Now thinking about it and reading other posts....I can see it being untrue. I give my DS cereal at 6pm with a bottle and then awake him at 11pm for just a bottle. If I don't do that, he is awake 5 hours later very hungry!

Unless your pediatrician is ok with it, I would not add rice cereal to a bottle. It does not help babies STTN and unless the baby has reflux, it's not recommended for newborns. Your DS will sleep longer when he's ready.

You're EBFing, right? Most EBF babies do not sleep long stretches for a while. DS woke up several times per night until he was 6 months old and then woke up once per night for another month. He finally started STTN at 7 months.
