Central air quotes

Does anyone have an idea of a ballpark? We have forced air heat so they say its cheaper since we have ductwork already. I don't want to bother companies for estimates if it's going to be too much.

Re: Central air quotes

I had no duct work, 2 story home 2 zones with everything and unit it was 12k. We used Central Air Systems in Bayshore and they put us on a payment plan so it was affordable.
Edited because I said the wrong company.

Re: Central air quotes

2 story house with duct work was $8k. One zone. We didn't put cac in basement because it's cool down there.

Re: Central air quotes

We used:

U.S. Air Conditioning & Heating Inc.
600 I North Bicycle Path
Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776
Work: 631-473-0090

We have a colonial 2 story house and did a 2-unit CAC (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs). We have vents in all rooms and the larger rooms have two vents.

We didn't have duct work, so that had to be installed and it was well over $12K. We have a 16-seer and 18-seer unit if I remember correctly. Maybe it was a 18-seer and a 20-seer. It's been 5 years, so I don't remember.

With the ductwork already installed, I've seen estimates as low as $4K and higher. It all depends on the unit(s) you purchase, size of home, electric current (if you need an upgrade), etc. A good CAC will be able to tell you.

Also note that there are LIPA rebates if you use one of their energy recommended companies. At one point, there was a federal govt rebate with your taxes, but not sure if that is still available.
