central ac
I've seen some houses in person, as well as online, that have central ac, yet they still have ac's in/through the wall.
Anyone know if that's necessary? Can we just remove the ac's and fix the wall?
Sorry if this is a silly question!

When we were house hunting we saw a couple of houses like that. The sellers said it was more cost effective to run the wall units in the bedrooms over night, then to run the cental ac through the whole house.
IMO, it's an eye sore. If the house has cental ac, then I would remove the wall units and fix the walls.

ITA. I think that's what we'll end up doing if a house has both wall ac's and cac. Hope wall repair isn't too costly

We just put in cac in our new house. THe master already had a wall unit. We left it b/c we felt if we wanted our room super cold, we could run that instead of cranking the whole house to get our room super cold. But of course if it wasn't there already, we would not put it. If we redo our outside down the line, we will remove that wall unit. Yes, you can remove the wall units but I would never do that before testing it out b/c maybe the cac doesn't work that great in those particular rooms, kwim?

We have CAC but had to put a wall unit in our kitchen because we had no attic space. We always turn off the kitchen unit at night. Works out great.
