Celiac and EOE
My son (5 yrs old) was diagnosed with Celiac disease recently as well as eosphilinic esophagitis. The dr. put him on Prilosec to control the eosphilinic esophagitis. Does anybody have any experience with this drug? After 2 wks of taking it as well as going on a gluten free diet- he has suddenly become extremely moody and is throwing severe tantrums(which is very out of character for him). Could this medicine be causing it? And is there a need to be on it?? There isn't a lot of research out there on EOE.

I've never heard of an emotional side effect from the Prilosec, Nexium I know can cause anxiety, but I haven't heard of that from Prilosec. It's a pretty common, relatively easily taken drug. That doesn't mean that he couldn't be having a side effect. I wonder also if because he is feeling better he has more energy to act out now, that he didn't have before.... That can happen.

It could be going gluten free he may need time to adjust when I had to go GF the first month I was a raging monster it was almost like a detox/ drug withdrawal. Give it another month and see if he has improved. Are you overall giving him less carbs? If so that's likely it
