CD question
Hi ladies!
I have a quick question. DH and I are not actively TTC yet but we will be at some point this year. I've been off BC since September and I've been trying to track my cycle so that when the time comes, I'm ready. I was on BC for 15 years b/c of an irregular period. I'd get it for about 7-8 days and get it every 20-26 days. My first month off i got it at exactly 28 days, the following month was 26 days.
So here is my question -- I started spotting on Monday (the only reason i knew was from looking at the toilet paper ) and i've been spotting since. Today is the first day I need a tampon. What day would you consider CD 1? maybe i'm not calculation right and that is why my cycles seem so short?
also, I wish you all !!

Thanks. Do you have a hard time pin-pointing ovulation since your cycles are different each month?

CD1 is full flow... i would count from when you needed a tampon People say this, but I dont know. I am only on my 2nd month TTC but the first month I O'ed on CD10 if I counted from full flow, CD12 from spotting.
I think of it this way...I start on CD 8 (based on full flow) or CD6 (based on spotting). This way even if I am wrong as to CD1 my bases are covered.

yup. I O anywhere between CD15 and CD22. AF arrives anywhere between CD23 and CD33 (the O on CD22 was the CD33 cycle, which appears to have been a one-time thing). Because of the range I have trouble with OPK's - namely, it gets expensive!

ok, another silly question -- is your period ALWAYS 14 days after ovulation? B/c if that is the case, when my cycles go as low as 20 days, i'm o'ng the last few days of my period.

We are just going to have regular for the first six months. If it doesn't happen in that time frame, I will probably be moving to OPK's just to make sure I know when I'm ovulating.
thanks for your help!

you can O before AF is finished... when was the last time you had a 20 day cycle? quite a long time ago -- maybe 10 years ago? I've been on BC for about 15 years with a few breaks here and there.

i meant to answer your other question too...
there isnt always 14 days between O and AF (LP)... some people, like bearcat, have a short LP... some people have a longer LP... the only way to know for sure is to temp or use OPKs...
i used opks for 2 months before i ttc because i wanted to know if i was actually oing when my calendar said i was...
you can always try an opk just to make sure...

I was the same story as you before going on the pill - went on because of very irregular periods. I was also on for 15 yrs but my story coming off it was the exact oppopsite as you. I had 3 cycles that were 6 weeks long...then after that I went 100-something days with no period. Took provera to bring on a period and then started using OPKS after that....O'd on cd52!!!! And got BFP 2 weeks later. So I highly recommend the OPKs for anyone who is unsure of their cycles!

No your period is not always 14 days after you O. It varys by woman and each month.
The amount of days bw your O and your period is your lutenal phase. Should be at least 10. Uusally bw 10-14 (this is what I hve read)
