CD 42.. 3 days late..

took a couple HPT's a couple days before AF was due and got BFN's. i did not use FMU because the test said it could be used 6 days before your period is due, so i figured it didnt matter what time of day if it was that sensitive.... was that dumb? i know i should test again, but i am just so tired of seeing BFN's... i am going to pick up some dollar tree tests so i dont feel so guilty testing at least. my cycles have been kinda long lately, but SO much more regular than they have been in years because i started metformin in april... my 1st cycle on it was 42 days long, but then the next one was only 34.. so i was hoping they were getting shorter... now im not so sure.

anyone have any experiences like this? i dont really know what im looking for here... but we're going to disney in a few days and i REALLY do not want AF there. i dont want AF AT ALL, but if i must have it then i reeeeeeeally hope its not during our vacation.

you should test again and you should always use FMU if you can, if AF isnt late. once its late you can test anytime but FMU is still best.

if your cycle is long and irregular are you sure you are ovulating? since you are on metformin do you have PCOS?

im not sure because i apparently didnt use the OPK's right this month either.. i used the digitals and took them late in the day and different times each day.. and never got a smiley. so i dont even know if im Oing.. thats my next step though if this month is a bust. going back to the RE and asking about clomid i think.

its fine to use OPKs late in the day although you should try testing at the same time each day.

you might want to try temping to confirm O - unless you are already seeing an RE in which case they will monitor your cycle to make sure you are ovulating.

did you do any meds this cycle other than metformin? how long have you been on met?

if you dont get AF or a BFP its possible you didnt ovulate. but i would try testing again with FMU first, and give it some more time. you cant really consider yourself 3 days late if you dont have a regular cycle and dont know when or if you ovulated.

i went to the RE back at the beginning of the year and they couldnt do anything for me yet because it turned out i had an issue going on with my liver at the time and they wouldnt go ahead with any treatment until it was resolved. i went on metformin in april because of pre-diabetes. so the metformin was not even prescribed by an RE. i am going to go back to the RE if i am not preg this month though since my liver issue has been resolved now. i know my actual AF due date could be different than what my AF calendar is telling me since my cycles have been a little long, i was just using it as a guideline to give me an idea of when i should be expecting AF.. so i shouldnt take the date too seriously i guess. im going to test again before we leave for vacation and take it from there.. thank you so much for all your advice!!
