Catholic School uniforms
So, we just found out that the Catholic school we were on the waiting list to hear from for DS to go to pre-k accepted him.
We need to get his uniforms in time for school starting 9/6.
They gave me a place where you can order them online, but it says it takes up to 4 weeks.
I have the address of one of their store, but no one is picking up the phone.
Does anyone know if I go to the store, does it still take a while to order, and if so, how long?
Also, how many of each item do I buy?
Like, how many pants, short sleeved tops, long sleeve tops, etc.?
And, can you basically wear any combination of the approved pieces of the uniform?
I'm clueless!

Re: Catholic School uniforms
They aren't picking up the phone probably because it is crazy busy at a uniform store this time of year. I would go, with a list of the items you are ready to purchase. There should be a uniform policy from the school somewhere for you to review. In my kids' school they can wear pretty much any combo. I like to have 2-3 pr of shorts and same for pants. 5 shirts. you could just start out with short sleeve for now.

Re: Catholic School uniforms
my son's school just said white polos and navy pants/shorts. i got the tops and bottoms from gap (b/c they were on sale at the time) as well as dickies, b/c i get my nursing uniforms from them and like how they hold up.
so to start i got
2 white short-sleeved tops 2 long sleeved tops 2 navy pants 2 navy shorts
if i see more on sale at the gap i'll prob buy more. i'm sure your dc's school will let you buy anywhere-old navy, target, etc. as long as it's the right color combo

Re: Catholic School uniforms
Thanks.
They suggested Flynn & O'Hara's but everything is so expensive on the website.
Someone suggested Land's End also.
Does it take long to order the shirts with the school logo?

Re: Catholic School uniforms
The school my kids go to uses Flynn and O'Hara and Lands End for gym uniforms.
If you go to the Seaford store, they usually have most things in stock and anything that needs to have the logo can be done in the store.
Lands End stuff takes about a week or so to get.
I also have ordered a ton of stuff from cookieskids.com. So much cheaper than Flynn and O'Hara and they carry most items in the same plaids. Our school has green/gold plaid #83, so I can get jumpers and ties, etc here in that plaid. They deliver super fast if its in stock since the actual store is right in Brooklyn.
If you have any specific questions, just FM. I have both a boy and a girl in a Catholic school and I am well versed on uniforms.
Plus, if your kids end up going to the same school as mine, I might have some uniforms to give you!
Oh, which reminds me, our school website says that new students might have uniforms "backordered" and they can wear plain pants/shorts and a collared polo until the uniform comes in. Plus, my school also has a closet filled with second hand donated uniforms for parents to take for free. Maybe ask if they have that as well.
ETA: Uniforms in our school only start in K. Pre-K is not required to wear a uniform.

I don't know what the uniforms are like but I thought I saw some school uniforms at Baby Gap of all places.

Re: Catholic School uniforms
I teach in a Catholic School. Many times kids are waiting on uniforms. If they don't come in, try your best to match up.
As long as the kids are not in jeans I think the school should be fine with waiting.
This is not a great option, but most schools have extra uniforms in the lost and found or samples. You can get them cleaned until yours come in.
These companies are so erxpensive!!!!
Good luck!!!

Re: Catholic School uniforms
Do you know any other parents? My friend got a lot of uniforms for her DS' from other parents whose kids had outgrown them.
This was for pre-k, so they wore gym uniforms at their school.
