castor oil to induce labor
Did any of you use castor oil to jump start labor? I am strongly considering it, as per my midwife's suggestion- though she did warn me that if my body isnt ready, all it will do is give me cramps and diarhea. Did any of you use it successfully? And if so, how many weeks were you when you did it?

Re: castor oil to induce labor
I did it.
Didn't help one bit.
I had diarrhea and cramps for 3 days.
Wound up with a sceduled c/s 10 days after my due date.
I would never recommend it to ANYONE.

BTDT. I guess because I like spicy foods it isn't really a shock to my system like it may be for other people.

Re: castor oil to induce labor
my sister did it, and it probably jump started her a bit---although she also had her membranes stripped the same day.

Re: castor oil to induce labor
Your midwife suggested you taking it BEFORE your due date?? I kind of find that a bit unsettling. I was tempted to take it when i was a week late, but from everything i read, it really just didnt seem worth it.

Please no! That baby is snuggled inside of you enjoying his bonding time. I know you are uncomfortable but please let nature take its course!

Re: castor oil to induce labor
I did it.. It worked but i was 4 days late. i wouldnt have done it until my due date passed. Your midwife is right, if your body is not ready it will not work.
i had cramps for 5 hrs then started poopin and then labor came on!
