Carpet Installation
Can any recommed a carpet company? We only need one room and a flight of stairs, and old carpet removal.
We tried to use Empire in the past, and I wouldn't go near them with a 10 foot pole.
Nassau, south shore, please!

Re: Carpet Installation
We might also be looking to replace the carpet in our family room at some point. I'm curious, what's your reasoning for staying away from Empire?

Re: Carpet Installation
We didn't use Empire in NY, but in a house that we sold in MD earlier this year.
Bascially, the sales rep came, convinced us that we could get next day delivery, as advertised. (We were on a tight schedule as we did not live in MD, but still need the carpet to sell the home) I wrote 100$ check for deposit.
Next day we get a call that the carpet is not available. Delivery is pushed to the following day. It was annoying, but we agreed.
The next day, instead of arriving in the AM, we recieved a call from the installers 7 HOURS LATE to tell us they were at the house to install. Sorry, but we were already on our way back to NY. Also, at that point I had called Empire's corporate offices to cancle our order (you have 72 hours to do so) and get a full refund.
It took us 3 months, and I would say close to a dozen phone calls to get our 100$ check back. I would rather support a local business that deal with Empire again.

Re: Carpet Installation
I had an awful experience with Empire as well -they lied about pricing and a bunch of other problems. We just used Marina One Carpet on Jericho Tpk, East Northport for 4 bedrooms and our den. They are coming this Sat to do our stairs and hallway. They have been great to work with and I would highly recommend them.
ETA: just saw this is not the in the area you are looking in. Sorry!

Re: Carpet Installation
Empire is expensive and the quality isn't that great
We used Jim Flack in Farmingdale on 110. Quick cheap and good quality....they have all kinds though and we went on the lower end.....

Re: Carpet Installation
I used Carpet Depot a few years ago (early 2009), and we were happy with them -- they had a good selection, service was fine. We did a few rooms and a hallway, and 2 staircases, and they removed the old carpeting from all. I don't know that I did a ton of shopping around (I had a week old baby when we went carpet shopping!) but my mom and grandmother had used them in the past and had good experiences.
We are in N. Bellmore (and went to the Wantagh location), but I believe there are other locations, such as Levittown and Oceanside.

Re: Carpet Installation
I would not use Empire. My mom used them for her basement stairs and the quality was terrible and the job was done very sloppy.
Se wasnt happy at all.

Re: Carpet Installation
All Carpet on Merrick Rd in Seaford- right next to the movie theater. Always had a great experience with them and they're prices are reasonable. They are coming next week to install carpet in my son's room.
