car seat installation and check
Okay. So my question is...when you have your car seat checked, do they give you paperwork or something that certifies that you have had this done? Will the hospital not let you leave without this paperwork?
OR
Does the hospital just check to make sure you have a car seat installed?
I ask because I just want to make sure that in the event that I have the baby before I am able to get the car seat checked (will be installed by DH of course- and I have complete faith in his ability to do so correctly..he is crazy about stuff like that), that I will be able to take my baby home.
So- do we get something that we have to show that certifies we have had seat checked OR do we just have to have seat installed?

The hospital did not check our seat. They just asked if we had one.

From what I've been told, the hospital just wants to see that you have one in the car. They don't check to see if it was installed properly.

They don't actually check the seat they want to make sure you have one.
All of the carseat installation places are free, and it's so easy to just go there and make sure it's done right. The statistics are something like 95% of all carseats are installed incorrectly. Just an FYI.

My son was in the NICU for a month and we had to bring the carseat in for them to make sure he didn't have any breathing problems when seated in the seat for an hour (some preemies have problems because of the way their bodies are angled in the seat and because they're so tiny). Once they pass that "test" they can go home. But no one ever checked our car to see how it was installed.
For my friends and family, they just also checked that they had a carseat, not that it was installed correctly.
But definitely get it checked since like posted above, the majority of people do not install correctly!
