Can't Make a Decision, Sesame Place or Hershey Park for My 3-year old? We've Never Been To Either...
I know there have been tons of posts on her about how yucky Sesame Place is. I want to take my DD away for two or three days in April. She hasn't been to Sesame Place ever. Is it worth going just one time and should we save Hershey Park for another time or forgo Sesame Place all together and do Hershey? Since we NEVER go away I want it to be a great time for her.
Additionally, where is the NICEST place to stay by Sesame Place and what else do you do around there? Is it true there is NO good dining? Any and all advice is GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you

If it was ME, I would do Hershey. I want to have some fun too, so DH and I would take turns on some of "thrill" rides and there is still plenty to do with the kids.

Forget Sesame...........if you're doing one or the other go for Hershey!! There is SOOO much to do, a ton of kiddie rides, the chocolate factory tour, the zoo within the park and more. We took Emerson last summer right before she was 3 and she LOOOOOVED it!! She STILL talks about that trip!!
Also, Sesame is like 85% water rides and in April it's not really going to be hot enough to do those, if they are even open that early. Without the water stuff there is even less to do there, it's a very small park. Hershey will easily keep you busy for a few days and if you want, Dutch Wonderland is only a half hour away. That was amazing too!!...........PERFECT park for 2-5yr olds.
Have fun whichever you choose.

My almost 3 year old had a MUCH better time at hershey then sesame place.
While I didn't find sesame place yucky ( besides the food ) Hershey was VERY clean and I felt less crowded and congested.
If you go to sesame go when the park opens. Once the afternoon hits it gets so packed you can't even walk.

Thanks Kristen. I believe Dutch Wonderland is closed in April. How far is Hershey from where we are????? Which hotel did you stay in?
Thanks.

Is it really? I figured by then it would be open. That's too bad, DW is really nice.
We actually stayed right down street from DW so if you're only going to be at Hershey it makes more sense to stay closer to there.
I'm trying to remember how far it was, I want to say it took at least 3 hours to get from out here to Hershey. Maybe a little more. We drove straight through without stopping. Easy trip.

If you don't hate road trips I would plan for another trip. There is plenty to do in and around Hershey and I think DW is worth a trip back for sure. Emerson really loved both parks, she went on every ride and had so much fun. We'd like to take her again this year, it's worth it IMO.

ITA
I would NOT go to Sesame over Hershey. Now let me say I have NOT been to Sesame but I am sure it's nothing like hershey. Hershey is a RESORT, Sesame place is a amusement park. KWIM?
Also...we went to DW and Hershey (one trip) this summer. My DD is your DDs age, loves rides and honestly, I felt DW was better suited for kids 18 mths to 2 years. Closer to 3 and I think Hershey blows it away. I actually thought DW was just ok...I have no desire to go back. Hershey, I could go over and over again...been there so many times and it never gets old. So much for kids 3+ to do.

Hershey is BEAUTIFUL. We may be going again this year. I haven't even gone to Sesame Place because I haven't heard anything good about it from friends.

Also..to add to my post above.
Think of it this way...Sesame is comparable to Great Adventure. Just an amusement park.
Hershey is more comparable to Disney (on a much smaller scale of course). Hershey lodge is a RESORT (like Disney hotels). You have nice restaurants, pools, various amenities and things to do. Don't even consider Sesame if you want a "vacation" that is a resort like experience. And again, DW is nothing to wait for, IMO. You can always do a DW/Lancaster trip another time.

Not trying to argue but I respectfully disagree in that Hershey is really not even in the same league as Disney. But I do agree that it's a step up from Sesame.........for sure!! But that's just my opinion. I really enjoyed Hershey but for me, it doesn't hold a candle to Disney.

I would go to Dutch Wonderland for a 3yo. If not DW, go to Hershey.
Sesame Place is more of a water park so I would not recommend going there in April.

I am a huge Disney fan too. Of course I dont mean they are at all comparable. But if I can't make it to Disney, a trip to Hershey is nice, as I said on just a much smaller scale but clean, nice restaurants, pools, playground, etc, all on Hershey Lodge property. I would sooner compare Disney to Hershey, than I would Sesame or Great Adventure to Disney. JMO

Sorry I have to post again. We can't edit today, due to the changes LIF is making. I wanted to point out to make my post more clear.
I am referring to staying on property at Hershey lodge, in comparison to Disney. Have you ever stayed at Hershey Lodge? It's phenomenal IMO. A selection of restaurants (casual to formal to quick service). Kids activities, 2 pools, mini golf course, game room, kids check in, buffet, etc. You can leave your car for days, never use it and take Hershey buses to any Hershey attractions (again, my reference in comparable to Disney). So that's why I say Hershey, IF you stay at Hershey Lodge or Hotel or Campgrounds even, is more comparable to Disney than a one day place like Sesame or Great Adventure. Of course it doesn't have even a quarter of all that WDW has to offer, but if you are looking for a FUN, clean, child oriented resort like experience, Hershey Park (again if staying ON property at Hershey lodge) gives you that experience and a really nice vacation.
I should work for Hershey lol. I have been going for years, only have ever stayed at Hershey Lodge and just think it makes a really nice vacation (and fulfills that resort like experience if of course, if you can't make it to Disney World).

Again cant edit so wanted to add...I am going to WDW in May...but plan to also go to HersheyPark again this summer. I stay in Hershey 5 days. I am staying in WDW 7 (but would have preferred 10 if I didnt have pets to have taken care of).

As an aside...................so jealous you're going to WDW in May. Can I hide out in your luggage??
