No - opks detect the LH hormone in your system which surges before ovulation. PG tests detect the pregnancy hormone.

I've read that you can and the rationale, too. I've never tried though. I thought I remember reading on other message boards people who have tried that successfully.

I definitely wouldn't rely on it. I've heard of it working for some girls. I actually tried it a couple of months ago thinking I might be PG, but it was wrong. The OPK was positive, but I wasn't PG. It's kind of hard not to get your hopes up after thinking you may be. Oh well! We're not TTC anytime soon, but it was still a little disappointing.

You CAN use an OPK as a pregnancy test however the hormone that the OPK detects is always present in your body, just at different levels. Right before you ovulate and in the earlier months of pregnancy, there is more than the usual amount of this hormone. So, you will see a + on an OPK if you are pregnant, however, the + does not mean that you are definitely pregnant.
