Re: can you please look over my hospital bag list
My dr suggested bringing listerine strips since you can have those while in labor, just in case you want to freshen your breath and cant get up and brush your teeth.
change for vending machines??
ETS: sorry didnt see snacks on your list at first.

Re: can you please look over my hospital bag list
sounds like you have everythign try a light snack for hubby so he doesnt have to run to the cafe or dunkin donuts if u have a long labor, also at my child birth class, they said to pack two bags and leave one in the car, pack a small bag with your toiltries and baby book, they have to inventory everrything you bring in and the nurses dont want to count and inventory your 400 items so she said pack a small ziplock bag of mouthwash, deoderant, hairties and a light snack, batteries for camera and thats it, and make sure u take all jewlery off before going in

Re: can you please look over my hospital bag list
I would bring more granny panties! I didn't quite get the hang of them and bled through a couple of pairs.
BTW, shaving is the furthest thing from your mind after you deliver. Trust me! Taking a shower feels like you are a prisoner that the cops just beat up and they are trying to delouse.

honestly d, until this site i didnt even know you showered at the hospital and really wasnt planning on it but i dont want people to think im gross lol. For some reason showering in a hospital grosses me out - dont ask me why.
and as far as shaving - it is just my underarms - otherwise i will feel as if i didnt shower if i dont shave them. believe me they will be lucky i shave my vajay and legs for when i go into labor lol

Yeah, you will want to shower so badly! As soon as I gave birth, I asked when I was allowed. The epidural didn't even wear off yet and I was ready to go!!!
I didn't get to shower for almost three days because of my labor. I felt like a hippie with my arm pit hair but I really was happy just to have clean hair and skin.

Re: can you please look over my hospital bag list
I'd bring a cotton robe, not fleece...at least in my room, it was HOT!
The list looks good....the only other things I'd suggest are:
Face Wipes (Olay or something similar) - I'd assume while you were in labor, if you had an epidural, you could use them to "wash" your face, and kind of refresh you. If you have to have a c-section, and you are stuck in the bed for a while until the spinal wears off and the cath is out, you'll definitely want to refresh!
Additional panties...Vag or C-section, odds of bleeding through are pretty good...I'd rather bring 6 pair and only need two! But if you do have a c-section, you'll be in the hospital for 4 days, so you'll need 4 minimum!!!
And I def reccomend one or two sports bras...I had a few that I kept on ALL the time, unless I was showering, as reccomended by several women who didn't BF as well...that helped not encourage milk to come in.

Re: can you please look over my hospital bag list
Do no LI hospitals give you disposable panties when you're there? They gave me them for all 3 days there plus about 6 pairs to bring home with me! I didn't put on my own underwear until DD was a week old!
The disposables are amazing -- so soft and stretchy -- you can fit monster pads in them and giant ice packs. I actually was wearing them with an "ice diaper" (literally a baby diaper the nurses fill with ice), a pad, and one of those large blue and white 'chucks' (like a waterproof disposable pad they have at hospitals so you don't bleed on the furniture). Yes, all those things IN the panties!!! No granny panties can hold all that!
I did have two terrible tears and a cut, though, so maybe that's why I didn't even think about putting on my own underwear.
I also did not have many visitors since I'm OOS and my whole family is in NY. Just my SIL and one friend came with her mother -- that's all. So I wasn't getting fancy for anyone. I did take two wonderful showers.
Oh, bring a towel for DH. The towels there are eh but good enough for bleeding on ha ha.
I wish I'd had more snack food. I was starving after I gave birth (DD was born just after midnight). I had some snacks, but I needed like real snickers bars and stuff.
I only put on my own clothes the day I left. I do wish I'd been wearing a bra during delivery that I could take off around the IV -- for some reason I couldn't take mine off which was annoying.
Oh, I highly recommend bringing your own motrin and colase. I got my hospital bill and they charged me $4.44 for every motrin I had (!!!!) and $1.44 for each colase. Waaaay less expensive if you bring your own.
