Thanks,

Yes, it could be a loooong process so I would suggest you eat something fillling, like oatmeal or something. Good luck!!

Yes! Eat! If you don't eat breakfast, you could be going over 24hrs without eating. You need strength to push out that baby!

Eat as much as you can! I was induced with #1 and didn't eat much that day and was starving by the time I was allowed to eat again 36 hours later!

...Once you are in the hospital, you are on ice chips and water.. I went in to the hospital at 11am on a Friday and didn't have DS until 526pm on Sat, via emergency c-section (thats why they don't like you to eat in case you have to have one). I didn't eat until 8am Sunday morning... Wasn't bad. After being in labor for over 24 hours, I didn't feel hungry one bit..The first thing they asked me when I got there, was when I ate last... They don't like to have anything in your stomach in case you start to feel sick or need a crash c-section..

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR HOSPITAL"S POLICY.

I was told nothing after midnight. I woke up queasy the following morning so I ate a small handful of Cheerios to take the edge off. I made the "mistake" of being honest and my induction was put off by 8 hours.

At the time they told me of the delay, I was very upset and basically threw a mini-tantrum. Then during the induction things went south and became an emergency. Thankfully I avoided needing a c-section but it could have been dangerous had they NOT delayed things until they were sure my stomach was empty.

Being induced is NOT the same as going into labor on your own. FOLLOW your hospital's policy. You don't want ANY regrets if things go wrong.

Thank you everyone! I called and they told me not to eat or drink after midnight. I cant believe they didnt tell me either way, that is why I thought I could eat. So glad I called! I guess every hospital is different.

Wow, I can't believe they didn't tell you either. And sorry for the bad advice (from me!) I was induced and ended up with a c-section 18 hours later and was never asked if I ate/when I ate etc. I was throwing up while in labor and threw up on the operating table too and didn't have any negative consequences but I agree you should follow the guidelines of the hospital.

Good Luck!!!
